Invert The Subject and Verb With Negatives
Ketika pernyataan negative, seperti no, not, atau never, berada di awal kalimat, subjek dan kata kerjanya dibalik. Perhatikan contoh kalimat-kalimat berikut.

Not once did I miss a question.
(Tidak sekali  Saya salah menanggapi pertanyaan)

Never has Mr. Jones taken a vacation.
(Tak pernah Mr. Jones mengambil liburan)

At no time can the woman talk on the telephone.

Dari kalimat pertama, pernyataan negative not once menyebabkan subjek "I" berada setelah kata kerja bantu did.
Dari kalimat kedua, kata negatif never menyebabkan subjek Mr. Jones berada setelah kata kerja bantu has.
Dari kalimat terakhir, pernyataan negatif at no time menyebabkan subjek woman berada setelah kata kerja can.

Perhatikan contoh berikut.

Hardly ever does he take time off.
(Hampir tidak pernah dia beristirahat)

Only once did the manager issue overtime paychecks.
(Hanya sekali/hampir tidak pernah  manajer membayar upah lembur)

Di contoh pertama, pernyataan negatif “hardly ever” menyebabkan subjek "he" berada (dibalik) setelah kata kerja bantu does. Sedangkan, contoh kedua, “only once” menyebabkan subjek manager berada (dibalik) setelah kata kerja bantu did.

I do not want to go, and neither does Tom.

The secretary is not attending the meeting, nor is her boss.
(Sekretaris tidak menghadiri rapat, begitupun bossnya)

Dari contoh negatif neither, ia menyebabkan subjek Tom berada setelah kata kerja bantu does. Sedangkan contoh negatif nor,  ia menyebabkan subjek boss berada setelah kata kerja is.
Only in extremely dangerous situations ____ stopped.
     (A)   will be the printing presses.
     (B)   the printing presses will be.
     (C)   that the printing presses will be.
     (D)   will the printing presses be.
"Only in extremely dangerous situations will the printing presses be stopped."
