Invert The Subject and Verb With Conditionals
Perhatikan beberapa kalimat berikut.

If he had taken more time, the results would have been better.
Had he taken more time, the results would have been better.

·I would help you if I were in a position to help.
I would help you were I in a position to help.
(Saya akan membantumu saya dalam posisi membantu)

·If you should arrive before 6:00, just give me a call.
(Jika kamu  tiba sebelum jam 6:00, segera hubungi aku)
Should you arrive before 6:00, just give me a call.
(Sebaiknya kamu tiba sebelum 6:00, segera hubungi aku)

Dari setiap kalimat di atas, Anda bisa melihat ketika if dimasukan ke dalam subjek dan kata kerja regular (if he had taken, if I were, if you should arrive). Hanya saja, subjek dan kata kerjanya harus dibalik ( had he taken, were I, Should you arrive).

The report would have been accepted _____ in checking its accuracy.
(A) if more care
(B) more care had been taken
(C) had taken more care
(D) had more care been taken

Jawaban (A) salah karena ia berisi penghubung if dan tedapat subjek care, tetapi bukan kata kerja.

"The report would have been accepted if more care had been taken in checking its accuracy."
Setelah dihilangkan if dan dibalik (inverted):
"The report would have been accepted had more care been taken in checking its accuracy."
